The automotive financing landscape in Bangladesh is changing, creating new opportunities for both buyers and the industry.
Bangladesh Bank has revised its vehicle financing policy, allowing banks to provide loans at an 80:20 financing ratio for electric and hybrid vehicles. This is a significant shift from the traditional 60:40 structure commonly associated with conventional vehicles.
The central bank has also increased the maximum auto loan limits:
• Up to Tk 80 lakh for electric and hybrid vehicles
• Up to Tk 60 lakh for conventional vehicles
In addition, the ceiling for personal loans has been doubled from Tk 20 lakh to Tk 40 lakh, providing consumers with greater financial flexibility.
These measures are expected to make vehicle ownership more attainable for a wider range of buyers while supporting the adoption of cleaner and more fuel-efficient transportation options. As financing becomes more accessible, demand for both new and used vehicles could see a notable increase across the market.
For consumers, the decision is no longer just about choosing a car. It's about choosing the type of mobility that best fits their lifestyle, budget, and long-term needs.
If you were purchasing a vehicle today, what would be your choice—electric, hybrid, or conventional?
